The connection between James Bond and his cars is almost as legendary as the series itself. To mark the 60-year partnership with 007, Aston Martin releases a special DB12 Goldfinger edition, capturing the essence of Bond’s iconic style and thrilling escapades.
60 Years of Bond and Aston Martin
In late 1962, Sean Connery as James Bond made his screen debut in Dr. No, kicking off a franchise that would span more than two dozen films, each brimming with action, beautiful women, exotic locales, and stunning cars. One year later, in the height of the Cold War, From Russia with Love premiered, introducing more vehicles to Bond’s arsenal. However, the legendary partnership with Aston Martin didn’t officially begin until the third film, Goldfinger (1964), in which Bond and the Aston Martin DB5 became cinematic icons.
While Gert Fröbe’s villain Auric Goldfinger traveled in a lavishly imagined golden Rolls-Royce Phantom III with a rare Barker body, Connery’s Bond was outfitted with the now-famous Aston Martin DB5, cementing the model’s status as one of film’s most celebrated vehicles. Aston Martin’s signature sports cars went on to accompany Bond through twelve films, including Thunderball (1965), On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), The Living Daylights (1987), GoldenEye (1995), Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012), and No Time to Die (2021). Though Bond occasionally strayed to brands like BMW, Lotus, and even Renault, Aston Martin remains his most enduring automotive ally.
A Limited Edition Tribute
To honor this six-decade legacy, Aston Martin is releasing a limited edition of 60 DB12 Goldfinger models, drawing on Bond’s iconic style and classic allure. The DB12’s four-liter V8 engine, delivering 680 PS and 800 Nm of torque, is already familiar to Bond aficionados, but this edition is a work of art from Aston Martin’s Q division, focusing on exclusive details that pay homage to the DB5. A Silver Birch paint finish, 21-inch bespoke wheels, golden side trims, and blacked-out logos evoke Bond’s classic look, complete with a Q badge on the fender.
Inside, the cabin is designed to echo the DB5’s timeless appeal, with DB5-style leather seats, gold accents, and seat perforations that nod to the original’s stitching. Door panels and headliners feature special patterns inspired by the iconic Bond aesthetic, and a polished door sill proudly displays the famous 007 insignia. In a subtle tribute to Goldfinger’s casino scenes, an Ace of Spades card is embroidered into the sun visor.
Exclusive Owner Package
Owners of the DB12 Goldfinger will receive an exclusive gift set worthy of Bond himself. The package includes a custom car cover, a luxury key box with a DB12 model, a magnum of Bollinger champagne with matching glasses, and a 35mm film strip from Goldfinger’s legendary Furka Pass sequence. All items come in a custom attaché case matching the car’s Silver Birch exterior and lined with Prince-of-Wales check fabric.
With the DB12 Goldfinger, Aston Martin and 007 celebrate a timeless partnership that embodies elegance, exclusivity, and the thrill of the chase.
