The controversion of the BMW iX is over. Once defined by its polarizing front end, the updated electric crossover now sports a refined face that’s far easier to love – proving even avant-garde Bavarians know when to smooth rough edges. While the overhaul focuses heavily on aesthetics, subtle upgrades under the skin aim to strengthen its EV credentials.
From Polarizing to Polished: A Front-End Revolution
Gone are the divisive „four-eyed“ headlights, replaced by sleeker LED light bars that modernize the iX’s stance. The rest? Remarkably familiar. Side profiles, rear styling, and the minimalist cabin remain virtually untouched.

Under the floor, BMW resists the industry trend of cramming in bigger batteries – except for the base model, which emerges as the update’s biggest winner.
Subtle Tweaks, Smart Upgrades for the BMW iX
The iX xDrive40 is history, succeeded by the iX xDrive45 (€83,500). With a 95 kWh battery (up from 71 kWh), it now delivers 408 HP (a 82 HP boost) and a WLTP range of 490–600 km – thanks not just to the battery but also low-rolling-resistance tires and optimized wheel bearings.

For those craving more muscle, the iX xDrive60 (€99,900+) now packs 544 HP, though its top speed remains capped at 200 km/h. Its 109 kWh battery pushes range to 700 km, while the new iX xDrive M70 (€124,900) dominates as the range-topper: 659 HP, 1.100 Nm torque, and a 0–100 km/h sprint of 3.8 seconds.
Speed Demons (With Limits)
While the M70’s 250 km/h top speed outpaces its siblings, all iX models prioritize efficiency over outright velocity. Even the mightiest Bavarian EV bows to aerodynamics, a reminder that electrification reshapes performance priorities.
Chasing the Charging Curve
BMW’s charging tech stays conservative. The xDrive45 peaks at 175 kW, while the xDrive60 and M70 manage 195 kW – still shy of rivals’ 250+ kW capabilities. Silver lining? All variants support 22 kW AC charging, ideal for overnight top-ups.
