DS, the French luxury brand under the Stellantis umbrella, plans to introduce a new flagship model named the DS No.8 in autumn 2025. While Opel and Peugeot are rolling out SUVs on the large STLA electric platform, DS aims to stand out with a slightly elevated, fastback-style sedan that promises a more refined experience and unique design flair.
At 4.82 meters in length, the No.8 serves as the fully electric successor to the DS9, offering a range of drivetrains and a distinctly French take on luxury travel.
Three Electric Drive Options
Unlike many competitors, DS isn’t just providing one standard setup. Instead, the No.8 gives customers three levels of electric performance, all resting on STLA’s large platform. The entry versions—front-wheel-drive models—deliver either 169 kW / 230 PS or 180 kW / 245 PS, each with a 345 Nm torque rating. Their respective 74 and 97 kWh batteries (usable capacity) offer either 570 or 750 kilometers of range. Topping the line is the all-wheel-drive No.8 AWD Long Range model, pairing the larger battery with a 257 kW / 350 PS output and 511 Nm of torque. Despite a curb weight around 2.3 tons, it promises nearly 690 kilometers before needing a charge.
However, speed enthusiasts might be disappointed: all No.8 variants, including the AWD version, are capped at 190 km/h. Energy consumption figures settle between 12.9 and 14.2 kWh/100 km. Due to the 400-volt battery setup, DC fast-charging peaks at a modest 160 kW, and the standard onboard AC charger is initially limited to 11 kW, with an optional 22 kW upgrade to come later. Carefully sculpted aerodynamics (cW 0.24), active shutters, and wheels sized from 19 to 21 inches promise efficient cruising and long journeys.
DS No.8: French Style and Refined Comfort
Performance and numbers aside, many buyers will be more impressed by the DS No.8’s style and interior ambiance. With a 2.90-meter wheelbase, this fastback EV grants generous legroom front and rear, plus a 620-liter trunk capacity. Luxury features abound: a head-up display, a panoramic roof, ventilated seats front and rear, and a flagship Focal audio system with 14 speakers and 690 watts of power. Acoustic glass and extensive soundproofing aim to create a serene cabin environment.
Most importantly, the No.8 aims to deliver that distinct DS essence—elegant lines, plush materials, and subtle lighting accents inside and out. The result is a rare blend of technical advancement and exclusive French character. As it enters the scene, the DS No.8 hopes to become a new star in Europe’s premium EV firmament.
