Porsche has given its purist sports car, the 911 GT3, an update, making it more thrilling than ever—and for the first time, the popular Touring package now includes an optional rear seat. The GT3’s spirit remains, but it now welcomes kids along for the ride.
Sharper Design and Enhanced Aerodynamics
A glance at the new 911 GT3 reveals subtle yet striking changes. Revised lighting units have eliminated the need for additional front bumper lights, creating extra intake space. Updates like a new front diffuser, modified lip spoiler, and underbody fins contribute to improved aerodynamics, as do redesigned air intakes and a reimagined rear deck. Suspension tweaks include aerodynamically optimized drop-shaped longitudinal arms on the double-wishbone front axle, boosting downforce and improving brake cooling at high speeds.
Engineers have also worked on reducing nose-dive tendencies during heavy braking by adjusting the lower control arm’s ball joint, a change that initially enhanced the 911 GT3 RS’s performance. Standard sport tires in 255/35 ZR 20 up front and 315/30 ZR 21 in the rear provide a firm grip, while optional track-ready tires with road approval are also available. A new lightweight aluminum wheel cuts unsprung mass by about 1.5 kg, and, for those seeking even greater savings, the Weissach or Lightweight Package offers magnesium wheels, shaving off a further nine kilograms. A 40-Ah lithium-ion battery also reduces the GT3’s weight by four kg, bringing its lightest version to 1,420 kg. The Touring Package option, a favorite among fans, forgoes the GT3’s signature spoiler for a more understated look.
Powerful Engine, Classic Transmission Choices
The GT3’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine remains unchanged, delivering 375 kW (510 PS) with a top speed of 313 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Drivers can choose between a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual, featuring a slightly shorter axle ratio for added punch.
New Lightweight Seats and Touring Package Rear Seat Option
New to the GT3 lineup is a lightweight sport bucket seat made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CfK), featuring a folding backrest, integrated thorax airbags, manual longitudinal adjustment, and optional seat heating. A portion of the headrest padding can be removed for helmet clearance, and a pull-loop mechanism folds the backrest, allowing access to the rear seat—available for the first time in the Touring model. For those preferring more comfort, 18-way adjustable sport seats are also an option. Further sport features include a roll cage, while the Weissach Package offers a CfK stabilizer, linkages, roof, and other components.
Starting at €209,000, the Porsche 911 GT3 continues to embody uncompromising sportiness. The Weissach Package adds an extra €18,076, while the Lightweight Package costs €33,867, giving enthusiasts options to tailor their GT3 experience to perfection.
